NAISAR is committed to protecting the privacy of all individuals whose information we hold. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
NAISAR is currently a community-developed proposal. This policy describes our intended privacy practices upon operational establishment.
Future Capabilities — Not Yet in Operation
NAISAR is not yet operational. Several capabilities described in this policy are planned future functions and are not currently active. As of today, NAISAR does not collect:
- Location data or real-time tracking information
- Incident reports or evidence submissions (photographs, audio, documents)
- Risk assessments or service records
- Offender compliance or monitoring data
- Information from police, court, or agency systems
The only personal information currently collected is what you provide when registering a contributor account on this website (name, email, and optional profile details). Sections describing operational data handling will take effect only if and when NAISAR receives a government mandate.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide protection services, manage offender compliance, coordinate multi-agency responses, and evaluate outcomes. This includes:
- Personal details (name, date of birth, contact information)
- Location data and incident reports
- Risk assessments and service records
- Evidence submissions (photographs, audio, documents)
- Professional details (for authorised users)
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from individuals, from referring agencies, from police and court systems, and from authorised third parties. All collection is governed by information sharing agreements that specify permitted uses, security requirements, and retention obligations.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Assess risk and coordinate protection
- Manage offender compliance
- Support court proceedings
- Conduct research (with de-identification where required)
- Fulfil our statutory functions
We do not use information for purposes unrelated to our functions without legal authority or informed consent. We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for direct marketing.
5. Information Sharing
We share information with other agencies where necessary to protect safety, enforce orders, support prosecutions, or coordinate services. Recipients include police services, courts, corrections departments, health services, and community organisations. We share the minimum information necessary for the specific purpose.
6. Data Security
We have designed comprehensive security measures including encryption, access controls, audit logging, and staff training. Our security architecture is designed to achieve ISO 27001:2022 certification and independent audit once operational.
7. Access and Correction
Individuals have the right to request access to their personal information and to request correction of inaccurate information. Access requests will be processed within 30 days, subject to exemptions that protect safety, privacy, or legal proceedings.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for our functions and in accordance with legislative requirements. When information is no longer required, we securely delete or de-identify it.

If you believe we have breached your privacy, you may complain to our Privacy Officer at founder@naisar.org.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

This website uses standard cookies for session management and security. We do not use third-party analytics cookies. No personal information is shared with analytics providers.
11. Overseas Disclosure
All NAISAR data is stored exclusively on Australian sovereign infrastructure. We do not transmit, process, or store data in foreign jurisdictions.
